After being plagued with a string of inexplicable losses this season, Whoberley A finally found some of the form which led them to such great success last year and overcame Nuneaton A in a very closely contested final - the result of the match being eventually decided by the board 1 game.

11/03/08 Individual Lightning Results

In one of the strongest individual lightning events in recent years, Simon Fowler of Warwick University was able to overcome the competition and take first place with 5½/6. In second and third place were Joey Stewart of Whoberley with 5/6 and Jon Cox of Rugby with 4½/6. A full breakdown of the event will appear on the individual lightning page soon.

09/03/08 The League is once again saddened by the death of one of its most influential members, John Evans (secretary of Whoberley) on Friday night. John had been club secretary since it began around 40 years ago and leaves behind a great void in the league as he had personally run most of the clubs activity since this time. John had struggled with illnesses for many years but always kept a positive outlook on life and an eye for new talent.

05/03/08 Final Season Round Up:
Once a few outstanding results have been gathered (and postponed matches played out) the league tables and divisional rup results will be complete for the 2007-2008 season. In division 1 Nuneaton A were pipped to the post by University A, the final result being decided by a mere game point. In division 2 Whoberley C were a convincing first place, with newcomers Littlethorpe B finishing second. Division 3 saw Meriden Knights put in a great performance and finally coming first. Nuneaton D challenged their lead well and came a comfortable second place.

In the divisional cups, University A win division 1, University C win division 2 - the division 3 result is not in just yet.

27/01/08 Slow results - I have recently had some troubles with my computer, meaning the results were not published as frequently as usual. The problem has been partially remidied and I now have access to perform the updates but am needing to replace sometime soon, so if the results stop coming for a few days this will be the reason.

27/01/08 Two narrow wins by the top division 1 teams see them retain position, the gap still a mere one point. Division 2 leaders, Whoberley C, saw their lead reduced to just 2 points after a loss to second placed University C. In division 3 Meriden Knights lead but, with a game in hand, Whoberley G could still catch them up - University E also remain in contention for the promotion spot into the second division.

16/01/08 In Division 1 University A begin to challenge Nuneaton A for the division 1 title with a win over their fellow B team. In division 2 Whoberley C further increase their lead over their nearest rivals, they now look likely to win the division. Division 3 remains very closely contested, with any of the top four teams being in a position to win.

10/01/08 As the season resumes, competition for the division 1 championships intensifies as leaders Nuneaton A are reduced to a mere 1 point lead over the strong university sides who occupy second and thid place respectively. In division 2, Whoberley C still look favourites for promotion but Littpethorpe B and University C are still battling it for the second spot.

14/11/07 After a lacklustre performance last season, University B have exceeded all possible expectations and currently reside in joint first (with Nuneaton A) in division 1, will the underdogs be able to continue this streak of good form going? Whoberley C are looking dominant in division 2, having won all their games. In division 3 Whoberley G are performing well, but have Nuneaton D and Meriden Knights snapping closely at their heels.
